What we do
Five core trades, one team. Most properties need more than one of them at a time, which is exactly why it helps to have the same people on site for the whole list.
01 — Painting
Interior & exterior painting
Paint is the last 5% of a painting job. The other 95% is preparation, and it's where most repaints fail — a wall painted over a damp patch will blister again within a season, and paint over a chalky surface will peel off in sheets.
We start by working out why the existing coating failed. Cracks are opened and filled rather than skimmed over. Loose and flaking paint is scraped back to a sound edge. Damp is identified and treated before anything goes on top. Surfaces are sanded, dusted and primed with a product suited to what's underneath — plaster, fibre cement, timber or previously painted metal.
Then two full coats of a coating chosen for the exposure. Durban's coastal air is hard on exterior paint, so we use exterior-grade products on anything facing the weather and a washable finish inside where walls get touched.
02 — Plumbing
Plumbing repairs
A dripping tap wastes more water than most people realise, and a slow leak inside a wall does damage long before it shows on the surface. We treat plumbing as a damage-control job, not just a noise-control job.
That means finding the actual source before quoting. A damp patch on a ceiling is rarely directly under the leak. We trace it, open up as little as possible, and replace the failed component — pipe, joint, valve or fitting — with one that suits the pressure and the water in your area.
Where a repair is going to be repeated every couple of years, we'll tell you and quote the replacement instead. It's usually the cheaper decision over five years, and we'd rather say so upfront than keep coming back to the same joint.
03 — Tiling
Tiling
Tiles don't fail because of the tile. They fail because of what's underneath — a floor that wasn't level, a substrate that flexes, or a waterproofing layer that was never there in the first place.
So we strip the old surface properly, check the substrate, and screed or repair it before laying anything. Bathroom floors and shower walls get waterproofed first, then tiled. We set out the layout from the room's sight lines so cut tiles land where they're least noticeable, and we keep the spacing consistent across the whole floor rather than letting it drift.
Grout and silicone are chosen for the area — mould-resistant in wet rooms, a flexible silicone at every change of plane, because that's where movement happens and where leaks start.
04 — Waterproofing
Waterproofing
Water gets in at the details: the joint where a roof meets a parapet, the base of a balcony door, the corner of a shower, the top of a retaining wall. Those are the places we spend our time on, because a membrane laid neatly across the middle of a roof is worth nothing if the edges are open.
We clean and prime the surface, treat cracks and joints, then apply a system matched to the substrate and the exposure. Flat roofs, parapets, balconies, walkways, shower floors and wet areas, retaining walls and rising damp.
Before we sign anything off, we test. Flat surfaces get a flood test; wet areas get filled and left. If it holds, we finish. If it doesn't, we'd rather find out while we're still on site.
05 — Maintenance
General property maintenance
The long tail of property ownership. Doors that have dropped and drag on the frame, cupboards whose hinges have pulled, gutters packed with leaves, plaster cracked above a lintel, a gate that needs lifting, a light fitting that needs moving six inches.
None of it is glamorous and all of it matters, because small failures are what turn into water damage, security problems and expensive repairs. We handle these as a single visit where possible — one trip, one invoice, the whole list cleared.
For landlords and body corporates we also run scheduled maintenance: a set visit each month or quarter, a checklist agreed upfront, and a short written report with photos after each one so you have a record of the property's condition.
How we price
Every property is different, so we quote per job rather than per square metre off a rate card. What you get is an itemised written quote: labour, materials, and what's excluded.
Questions we get asked
Do you charge for a quote?
No. Site visits and quotes are free within [service area]. Outside that area we'll agree a call-out fee with you before we come.
Can you do the whole list in one visit?
Often, yes. If the list mixes trades we'll usually run it as one job with one team rather than sending separate people on separate days. Bigger jobs get a schedule so you know who's on site when.
What if you find something else once you've started?
We stop and tell you. Nothing gets added to the invoice that you haven't agreed to first — you'll get a revised line item and a yes/no before we carry on.
Do you work on rentals and body corporates?
Yes. A good share of our work is rental turnarounds and scheduled maintenance for small blocks. We can work to a handover date and send photo sign-off per item so you don't need to attend.
Are you insured?
[Insurance and registration details — confirm before publishing.]

Photos help more than descriptions. WhatsApp a few shots of what needs doing and we'll come back with a proper quote.
